The world’s biggest book fair

Hundreds and thousands of pages of knowledge at the Frankfurt Buchmesse (book fair) this year! Not only was everyone spoilt for choice with new reads, but it was also a great opportunity to attend talks and presentations if you were lucky enough to get an industry ticket (which I wasn’t), and if not then it was best to go on Sunday, when all the books were on sale.

I am still new-ish to Frankfurt and there is always something going on, so attending this local event was the perfect way to get to know more about what the city has to offer. I looked up the event before hand, which I haven’t been doing so much recently, but I am glad I did because there was so much to see and I wanted to get to the education and languages halls first! I was in my element and made the following purchases by Fulham University Press and Duden:

(That yellow one is a German writing exercise book. I love spell check but it does make you less proactively think about the words you are writing.)

However there wasn’t just books! Have a look at this machine that can write for itself:fullsizeoutput_861IMG_9775

I also came across a few childhood reads. Who remembers The Hungry Caterpillar or Die Kleine Raupe Nimmersatt?

Lonely Planet (who I honestly couldn’t  have made it round Vietnam without) had a colourful stand at the Buchmesse, and I do wonder what the sales are like for iPad and iPhone For Dummies!

The Buchmesse had something for everyone including comics, gourmet, art and international publishers. But a few of us even decided to dress up too.fullsizeoutput_864She made every thing by hand – amazing!

The Frankfurt Buchmesse exceeded my expectations. There was just so much to see, read and learn! Try to make it next year if you can, I loved it!
